What is included in move-out cleaning? A practical checklist

Plan the kitchen, bathrooms, windows and floors with this practical move-out cleaning checklist, including areas that are easily overlooked.

Move-out cleaning involves more than a quick tidy-up. Once furniture and belongings have been removed, surfaces that rarely attract attention become visible. Use this checklist to discuss your needs. The written scope agreed for your booking determines the work included.

Kitchen: check inside as well as outside

Discuss worktops, cupboards and drawers, including internal and external surfaces. Remember the oven, hob, extractor and sink. Emptying the fridge and freezer, and any necessary defrosting, should be coordinated in advance. Follow the appliance manufacturer’s instructions.

Some residue only becomes noticeable when shelves are removed or cupboard doors are opened. Point out heavily used areas when requesting your quote.

Bathrooms and WC: look beyond the obvious

Plan for the basin, taps, shower or bath, toilet, mirrors, and agreed wall and floor surfaces. Limescale and residue call for suitable products that are compatible with the material. Mention delicate finishes and existing damage before cleaning starts.

Clarify windows, frames and blinds separately

Check whether the booking includes inside and outside glass, frames, sills and blinds. Their number, construction and safe accessibility affect the work involved. Mention unusually high or difficult-to-reach windows at the enquiry stage.

Include living areas and extra spaces

Once rooms are empty, floors, skirting boards, doors, frames and built-in cupboards are easier to check. Add overlooked edges, corners and cobwebs to your list.

Be specific about balconies, cellars, attic storage and garages. Sweeping these areas is different from an additional intensive clean. If your own washing machine or tumble dryer needs cleaning, include that request explicitly.

Before the cleaning appointment

Remove belongings and rubbish. Coordinate key access, water, electricity and the sequence of work with the cleaning team. Further building work or moving furniture through the flat may leave freshly cleaned areas dirty again.

Send UNA Reinigungen your property details and the work you would like covered. We can help coordinate the cleaning with your flat and planned handover.
